Wayanad: People’s Foundation acknowledged that the rehabilitation project announced by the organization exclusively for the 2018 flood victims has been successfully completed. The declaration of completion of the project and the inaugural ceremony of Panamaram people’s village will be held on 13th June at Panamaram of wayanad district. Mr. Rahul Gandhi MP will join the function as chief guest via video conference.
The People’s Foundation, one of the leading NGO in Kerala, came into action very soon with all its subordinate organizations during the days of catastrophe itself. The foundation primarily focused on rescue services with its volunteer department Ideal Relief Wing, meanwhile coordinated hundreds of relief camp throughout the state. In the second stage of operation, the People’s Foundation has declared a comprehensive project worth 25 Cr for the rehabilitation of the affected communities all over the state.
Construction and repairing of houses, drinking water project, health card distribution jointly with hospitals, educational scholarship, school kit and laptop distribution were some of the prominent activities in the project. The beneficiaries for all the projects were selected impartially, without considering caste, religion, politics and any other privileges concerned. The volunteers of People’s Foundation conducted detailed surveys with the support of local self-government institutions to assess the loss and select the beneficiaries. The beneficiaries include the families/ individuals who are eligible for government aid and were excluded from the same list due to technical reasons.
The cost of the project (25 Cr rupees) were collected with help of volunteer agencies, different social service organizations and the common public. Construction of 305 houses, repairing/ renovation of 888 houses, 3100 health cards, livelihood for 811 families/ individuals, and 34 drinking water projects were completed within the projected period of time.
The people’s Foundation planned township projects for the landless flood victims and named it as People’s villages. As part of the project, the foundation completed 5 People’s villages at different location of the state, Namboorippotty of Malappuram district, Illikkal of Kottayam district, Mananthavadi, Meenangadi and Panamaram of Wayanad district. The Panamaram People’s Village is one of the major township of the project with 25 houses, primary health centre, pre-school and playground facilities.
Mr. P Sreeramakrishnan, speaker of Kerala legislative assembly, Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi, P.V Abdul Vahab MP, Jama’athe Islami Hind Ameer Sayyid Saadhathullah Husaini, Secretary General T. Arifali, Jama’athe Islami Kerala Ameer M.I Abdul Asees, IC Balakrishnan MLA, CK Sasindran MLA, OR Kelu MLA, District Panchayath President K.B Naseema, Wayanad District Collector Adeela Abdullah IAS, Jama’athe Islami Kerala Ast. Ameer P. Mujeeb Rahman, People’s Foundation Chairman M.K Muhammadali, Welfare Party State Vice. President Razak Paleri, People’s Foundation Secretary M. Abdul Majeed, Panamaram Panchayath President Shyni Krishna and other eminent personalities will be attending the inaugural session. The session will be held in compliance with all lockdown protocol. There are facilities for public to watch the inaugural session through different online platforms.
Furthermore, the People’s foundations is continuing its service by announcing a new rehabilitation project worth 10 Cr for the victims of flood 2019. As part of the new project, the foundation had already initiated a support system for flood affected entrepreneurs and distributed schemes for 600 nano- Entrepreneurs in the affected region. 50000 saplings have been planted to focus on environmental protection activities and was initiated during world environment day.
