Meeran Haider, a PhD scholar at Jamia, was called for interrogation by the special cell at their office in Lodhi Colony, New Delhi, in a case related to Delhi violence. Haider is a youth leader associated with RJD.

Yesterday, around ten uniformed men approached his local residence enquiring about him. The police gave him the notice of interrogation. He was taken into custody at 10 PM.

In an FIR, Meeran Haider has been named along with Umar Khalid, the former JNU student, and Danish, a resident of Gokalpuri. The FIR dated 6 March says that Haider and two others were involved in instigating the violence in North East Delhi during February.

The Delhi violence which was a targeted attack on the Muslim residents of North east parts of Delhi, had seen the police complicity in it.
