On Saturday a man carrying a pistol entered the Shaheen Bagh protest sit-in site and shot fire. The local protesters nabbed him and handed over to the policemen. On Sunday night two men, one of them reportedly wearing red jacket and driving a red scooty shot open fire at the Gate No. 5 of Jamia University.
For over a month now, Shaheen Bagh has been on sit-in protest against CAA. The ruling party BJP and its state as well as non-state associates are trying to dismantle the ongoing peaceful people’s protest, not just by sheer communally charged bigotry, but also by resorting to gunshot firing. But the resoluteness of the protesters is never broken.
The Companion has talked exclusively with the Shaheen Bagh protesters and especially the women, the real face of the anti-CAA protests across corners of the country, about their struggle, the Biryani-bait controversy, gunshot, and the attack on India’s constitution and anti-Muslim hatred.
