Mohammad Azeem, who was an 8-year old student in a Madarsa has been mob-lynched by some people in the Begumpur locality of Malviya  Nagar in New Delhi on Thursday. This is one more incident in the series of unabated mob-lynchings under the Modi-led regime which have increased unprecedentedly since the ascendance of the BJP in power at the centre. These horrendous mob lynchings have targeted Muslims.

According to report Nadeem Khan, the eminent social activist associated with the United Against Hate, visited the madrasa, and he was told by the madrasa people that some students were playing in the madrasa premise, when some youths of the locality started assaulting them. While some students sustained injuries, Azeem who was thrown on a bike, collapsed and succumbed to death.

It is also revealed from a video posted by Nadeem himself that the locals have been regularly disturbing them. There were police complaints by the madrasa people against them previously also for miscreant activities. On many occasions wine bottles have been thrown, and Friday prayers disturbed, spoke Mohammad Shakir to Nadeem.

Madrasa Jamiya Fareediya, where the incident took place, has been running since 1988. Police have not arrested anyone yet. Two of the assaulters were caught by the people of the madrasa, but they were later taken away free by a local woman named Saroj who even threatened them with more such things.

Mumtaz Ali who is the caretaker in the same madrasa told that youths first threw stones on the students who were playing, and then they hurled a cracker on one student who got injured. This is not something which happened only today, several such ‘attacking incidents’ had happened even before, said Ali.
