On the occasion of Constitution Day,a seminar on “Indian Constitution in Perspective of Human Rights” was organized by Integral University, Lucknow on 26th Nov. 2015. The seminar was held in the Faculty of Pharmacy where the distinguished speakers, heads of the Departments, faculty members and students were present.
The seminar started with inaugural speech of Dr.K.M. Moeed, Principal University Polytechnic, who welcomed the guests and the speakers and gave a comprehensive overview of the Indian Constitution with special focus on the fundamental rights inherent in it.The speaker of the seminar, Mr. Rajesh Mehtani, Management Rep UP Housing Board & Resource person for RTI, Janhit Guarantee Act &Savuttam Model for service Delivery talked about Good Governance with its components and how it can be realized through e-Governance.
Mr.Kashif Ahmed Faraz , Assistant National Coordinator of Association for Protection of Civil Rights(APCR), New Delhi presented a power point presentation on Human Rights perspective of Indian Constitution and discussed various rights and freedom given to citizens of India. In the second section of his presentation he discussed how different laws and acts have been made by the Indian Government at different times to minimize the fundamental rights and to curb the dissent voices. He presented case studies of TADA, POTA and UAPA and told how these laws were used to suppress the Political opponents, Human rights defenders, religious minorities, dalits and other low caste individuals, tribal communities, the landless and other poor and disadvantaged people.
Mr. MukeshShukla, Director, Institute for Corporation and Industrial Research reinforced the need of personal change and sense accountability to the organisation we work for.
At the end, the seminar was concluded with the vote of thanks by Dr. Juber Ahmad, Head Faculty of Pharmacy &Mr. MohdShuaibSiddiqui, Lecturer Department of Business Administration,and Polytechnic. The coordinated was by Ms. ArshiyaNadeemSiddiqui, Pharmacy.
