Islam Is A Call To Peace For All

Iindeed the religion in the sight of Allah is ISLAM”  (Quran 3:19)

Islam is an all embracing way of life. It extends over the entire spectrum of life, showing us how to conduct all human activities in a sound and wholesome manner. It does not allow a hierarchy of priest or intermediate between Allah and human, no far-fetched abstraction and no complicated rites and rituals.

Everybody can readily understand the quran and follow in the footsteps of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) to the best of his or her ability, assured by Allah that he will accept the deeds that each soul has the ability to offer.

“On no soul does Allah place a burden greater than it can bear” (2:286)

When we read quran and Prophetic traditions, we find instructions regarding all aspects of life : political, social, economic, material, and ethical. These instructions provide us with all the details needed to perform a certain act.

Some of the prophetic sayings go as far as to show us all the steps we need to follow, even the etiquette of using the bathroom, supplications to be said upon entering it and leaving it, how to clean ourselves and so on.

To summarise, Islam governs a Muslim’s life in all aspects. This is the reason why it is not only a religion but also a way of life. Islam does not recognize any kind of separation between religion and life. It openly rejects the western saying :

“Render unto ceasar what is ceasar’s, and unto God what is God”

But a Muslim is required to submit themselves completely to the will of Allah in all affairs.  As Allah says in the quraan : “say, truly, my prayer, my sacrifice, my living and my dying are for Allah, the lord of the world” (6:162)

Following are some examples which reflect the comprehensiveness of Islamic economic, social, religious and cultural values.

Salah and ablution: everything that Allah prescribes has a wisdom behind it. The medical world is discovering the amazing medical benefits of performing Salah and ablution. If non-Muslims knew the sweetness of Salah we have, they would fight to take it from us.

Greeting: greeting one another (saying peace, mercy and blessings of Allah be upon you) is indeed an act of worship. This generates a connection between people that Facebook or Twitter cannot overtake.

Allah says: “But when you enter houses, give greetings of peace upon each other – a greeting from Allah, blessed and good” (24:61)

Cures depression : by reading quran, one gains a state of tranquility, both of mind heart by believing that everything on earth is only an illusion. All the problems will soon fade away with the will of Allah.

Kindness to family, parents, relatives, orphans, the poor, the needy and the week. Allah says: “treat with kindness, your parents and kindred, and orphans and those in need; speak fair to people; be steadfast in prayer; and give zakah”

Respect to non-muslims : “and dispute not with people of the book, except in the best way; unless it be with those of them who do wrong but say; we believe in the revelation which has come down to us and in that which came down to you; our God and your God is one; and it is to him we submit” (29:46)

There are several other values, that gives immense importance like – fair/honest dealing in trading, buying and selling, prohibition of bribery, avoiding of hoarding and monopoly, paying salary/wages of employees/ labours on time, prohibition of fighting/murders and other crimes, prohibition of backbiting and many more.

Today many are searching for happiness and contentment. But people tend to forget that contentment lies in adopting what the almighty says: this compilation, although incomplete, tells us that Islam is a religion for the whole mankind and is indeed complete. It serves as the best guidance to us no matter how perplexed, confused and perturbed we may be. Islam is the absolute answer to those who seek a perfect religion and a complete way of life.

In short, Islam is a complete way of life for all and  Allah’s mercy to the whole of mankind. It calls us to be at peace with ourselves and others.
