“Do not even approach fornication for it is an outrageous act, and an evil way.”

In this verse Allah did not say “Don’t commit adultery” but said “And do not come near adultery”. Because a small act when it is done in series, will lead to adultery; this is the reason Allah said not to go near fornication. Allah not only warns to guard against adultery or fornication but against all those things which stimulate it or encourage. This directive is for both individuals and society. Therefore, we need to develop a society with all educative means which prevent and eradicate indecency.

We see today that day by day number of crime cases on women are increasing like wildfire, It is very disgraceful for us that India has recorded an average 87 rape cases every day in 2019 and 4,05,861 cases of crimes against women during the year. The latest data released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) shows that a rise of over seven per cent from 2018.

India is home to plenty of laws protecting safety of women such as Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956; Dowry Prohibition Act, 1961 (28 of 1961) (Amended in 1986); Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act, 1986; Commission of Sati (Prevention) Act, 1987 (3 of 1988);  Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005; Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (PREVENTION, PROHIBITION and REDRESSAL) Act, 2013; Criminal Law (Amendment) Act, 2013;  Indian Penal Code,1860, and also Indian Evidence Act,1872.

I am dismayed even after bringing number of safety laws to protect women, women are unsafe. As per NCRB report, cases are increasing day by day in our nation.

One of the major reasons for crimes against women is free availability of porn content. Now a days, porn is everywhere. It is in people’s pocket like in mobile phones, laptops hard disks etc.

The devil minds behind these porn sites are so smart. Once a person enters this hell then this is how they chase on man’s feelings, while they have good income on website and then after they offer adult chat rooms, dating sites etc. to grab attention.

Watching porn has become common in all ages across the world. Now porn industry is worth over $100 billion globally, which is bigger than some of the major corporation around the world. Just consider these statistics; there are 25 million porn sites worldwide and they make up 12% of websites and over 30% of all web traffic i.e. to understand the traffic, videos, the world’s biggest porn site have 4.4 billion-page views and 350 million unique visits every month as per sources which is astonishing. If our generations are spending much time on watching such vulgar content then obviously to achieve his desires, he will commit crimes, rapes, assaults, murders etc.

If this is happening across the world then how can a family feel safe while sending their daughters out. Brining new laws is not enough now, everyone especially women across the world should demand ban on porn related content on the internet.

We talk about women’s liberation and empowerment but narrowly define them. A woman’s dress, her seductive power, her exposed body determine a woman’s liberation.

International Women’s Day and Mother’s Day are celebrated every year around the world in honour to women. Remembering the great role played by women in the society, just celebrating a day is not enough we need more than that.

The main feature of a civilized society is to accept woman as she is and respect her work not her look. Women are one half of society and the remaining half came from women, which need great courage and struggle of women to give a birth, her sufferings, sacrifices during pregnancy period, sickness, discomfort, sleepless nights, and initial discomfort of breastfeeding so on. Nothing can replace these time consuming physical and mental agonies of a mother. And there are no shortcuts for this. The greatest wonder is that Allah bestowed woman with such power.

Allah says in Quran “We have enjoined on man kindness to his parents; in pain did his mother bear him, and in pain did she give him birth” (46:15).

Allah orders to worship and be good and respectful to parents

”  Your Lord has decreed: (i) Do not worship any but Him; (ii) Be good to your parents; and should both or any one of them attain old age with you, do not say to them even “fie” neither chide them, but speak to them with respect and be humble and tender to them and say: “Lord, show mercy to them as they nurtured me when I was small.” (17:23-24)

This is the main basic principle on which Islam desires to build the entire structure of human life.

And the Prophet said “A man came to the Prophet and said, ‘O Messenger of God! Who among the people is the most worthy of my good companionship? The Prophet said: Your mother. The man said, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet said: Then your mother. The man further asked, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet said: Then your mother. The man asked again, ‘Then who?’ The Prophet said: Then your father. (Bukhari, Muslim).

In the above Prophet has shown the importance and priority given to women for their sacrifices of the smooth existence and future well-being of society. The Prophet Muhammad said, “Your heaven lies under the feet of your mother.

Bringing heaven to mother’s feet did the Prophet raise up the position of women.

Allah orders in Quran

(O Prophet), enjoin believing men to cast down their looks and guard their private parts. That is purer for them. Surely Allah is well aware of all what they do.

Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) has termed such gazing and glancing as wickedness of the eyes. He has said that man commits adultery with all his sensory organs. The evil look at the other woman is the adultery of the eyes; lustful talk is the adultery of the tongue; relishing the other woman’s voice is adultery of the ears; and touching her body with the hand or walking for an unlawful purpose is adultery of the hands and feet. After these preliminaries, the sexual organs either bring the act of adultery to completion or leave it incomplete.

The nature of God-fearing man is that he will never involve in transgressions against women, but they do not even disturb with their gaze i.e. (one should restrain his gaze and avoid casting of looks freely) such culture should be developed in our society to safeguard women.

Of course, somewhere women are also equally responsible for raising crimes against women, women should not glance deliberately at the other men, and if they happen to cast a chance look, they should turn their eyes away; and they should abstain from looking at the awrah of others.

Allah says

And enjoins believing women to cast down their looks  and guard their private parts and not reveal their adornment except that which is revealed of itself, and to draw their veils over their bosoms, and not to reveal their adornment save to their husbands, or their fathers, or the fathers of their husbands, or of their own sons, or the sons of their husbands, or their brothers, or the sons of their brothers, or the sons of their sisters, or the women with whom they associate, or those that are in their bondage, or the male attendants in their service free of sexual interest, or boys that are yet unaware of illicit matters pertaining to women. Nor should they stamp their feet on the ground in such manner that their hidden ornament becomes revealed. Believers, turn together, all of you, to Allah in repentance that you may attain true success. (24:31)

Firstly, parents should feel their responsibility to spend enough time with children and stop children spending much time on mobile. Mobile should be used only for communication purpose. Everyone should experience happiness in real life not in virtual world.

Allah says that

As for those who strive in our cause, we shall surely guide them to our ways. Indeed, Allah is with those who do good. (29:69)

In the above verse Allah speaks about the one who strive for Allah’s cause, the struggle is in very nature of believers in this world. They must strive against Shaitaan, who frightens every moment of the possible losses that they must incur for the sake of good and fascinations him with the benefits and pleasures of the evil. One must fight with his own self, which exerts to make him the slave of its desires. One should also fight with those ideology, trends, morality, customs, way of life, social and economic principles which come in conflict with his faith. And also, must fight that state too, which enforces its laws independent of obedience to Allah, and employs its forces to promote evil instead of the good. This struggle is not for a day or two, but of a lifetime, of every moment of the day and night. And it is not a struggle in one field only but on every front of life.
