Once Murshidabad was the capital of undivided Bengal (Bangla, Bihar &Odisha) and it had its own glorious history. But now the socio-political condition of this district is too pathetic to bear, comparing with the developing India. A large numbers of its inhabitants belong to below poverty line (BPL). In the field of education it is more disgraceful. There are no available facilities for higher studies. Students are trying to improve their lot through education but in vain as there is no a single university in this district. It is at the bottom level in educational hierarchy of West Bengal. It is unjust and injustice in education.

In these circumstances, students under the banner of Students Islamic Organisation of India- Murshidabad district raised the voice to establish a full-fledged university. Along with this they also demanded for the betterment of primary education. They had earlier launched a campaign from 20thApril – 4th May 2015 throughout the district. A mass deputation to District Magistrate along with massive student rally for demanding a university held on 4th May 2015. Now in month of December, they have again started the agitation to force the agenda. Every year more than 30000 students graduate from Murshidabad, but due to absence of avenues in the district, they eventually lose interest and discontinue their education. These are some of the serious problems being raised by the students. They have launched a fortnightly campaign “Banchananoi, Murshidabadevisvavidyalayachai”(no deprivation, just a university in murshidabad).
