Today is day 30 of GFTI strike, yet the issues aren’t resolved. The GFTI students are determined to meet their demands by pressurizing the government. Their slogan ‘We shall fight, and we shall win’ still remains strong and undaunted.

These are the following demands:

  • An enquiry commission under eminent film personalities headed by Padmasree Girish Kasaravalli.
  • Practical and theory classes, workshops, master classes by film practioners, Film projections and daily discussions.
  • Upgradation of library and equipments.
  • Appointment of teaching faculties, staff and supporting staffs who can teach and support filmmaking, currently we have one lecturer each for both cinematography and sound recording and engineering being themselves as the HoD.
  • Terminating all those staffs who aren’t competent to teach cinema, and those who have mentally harassed the students.
  • Access to students’ hostel, which lies unoccupied more than a year.
  • An autonomous body with film academicians, film practitioners, alumnus, student representatives as a stake holder of this institution.
  • Zero admissions until GFTI is turned into a fully fledged film institute.
  • For admission criterion the minimum age limit must been 21 with proper entrance exams like other Film Institutes in India.
