Reports of caste based atrocities have been in public discourse since long  but nothing seems to change at institutional level. Caste based discrimination remains very common in many reputed educational institutions from AIIMS to VMMC.

Recently, the complaints of exploitation on caste identity have come from the Gujrat Central University, where Dalit students have been subjected to the casteist and exploitative attitude of faculty members. They are also alleging about the academic exploitation from their lecturers.

But the chapter turns extremely painful when Vice-chancellor, Prof. S. A. Bari and controller of examination, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar Dubey themselves turn oppressor towards their students.

In a telephonic conversation with THE COMPANION the student told that Gujarat central university seems to be an exception to the idea of equality and inclusiveness that central universities offer. The complaint was filed with National commission for scheduled caste on behalf of eight SC students .

The alleged incident of atrocity was described in detail in the complaint copy. In July 2014 few students belonging to SC community went to meet the “Controller of Examination for examination related issues, they were “humiliated and verbally abused”.

The complaint of incident was later submitted to Registrar Prof. N. Rajaram with a copy marked to V.C  office. Further complaints were submitted in different places like the Liasion officer for SC/ST, but time continued to elapse but no action was initiated rather the students were pressurized to take back the case and even the accused professor was awarded promotion.

In September 2016 the students met Vice-chancellor regarding the pending case but VC went on for the protection of alleged professor in spite of ensuring justice to the scheduled caste students.

When oppressed students found no ray of hope from University authority then they decided to move to National commission for Scheduled Caste and also sent their plea to H.R.D ministry and President of India demanding judicial probe and legal action against their oppressor.
